Description[]

A race of Bird-like people who live primarily in Spiral Canyon, Blayds resemble small humans but with wings protruding from their shoulderblades and Talons in place of toes. They typically have thin faces and very delicate features in comparison to a human. A fully grown Blayd can reach 5" in height and have a wingspan of 3 metres. The wings of a Blayd are most commonly Yellow, orange or golden brown.

Society[]

Blayds are nomadic by nature and many Blayd clans travel through the Spiral Canyons constantly searching for new hunting grounds and never staying in one place for more than a week. They set up camps composed of round, nest-like buildings that hang off the sides of a chosen cliff face.

A traveller moving through the Spiral Canyons at night would be more likely to hear a Blayd campsite before he could see it. Blayds are fond of songs and music. The sounds of cheerful Blayd music echos through the strange cliffs for miles after the sun goes down. Blayds are gifted musicians and storytellers and they make great bards.

Many Blayds leave their clans when they come of age and join the communites of other races to share their music and stories, blayds are commonly found living happily in Human, Satyr and Gnome settlements.

Diet[]

The Blayds diet is mostly composed of Screecher meat as well as Snakes and whatever else they can shoot down. They drink mostly drinks made from Tortoise Juice as Blayds learned long ago that drinking liquid from Cacti in the Spiral Canyons results in permanent hallucinations and mental decay. Lesser Huebirds are considered sacred by the Blayds and are never consumed, despite being considered delicious by other races.

Technology and Weapons[]

Blayds use simple bows and arrows crafted from screecher bones to hunt, they have little technology save for various musical instruments crafted from bones, skin and other animal parts.

Clothing[]

Blayds in the Spiral Canyons wear simple tunics made of skins and furs, they often wear necklaces of coloured glass beads.
